New colors are everything to the world of fashion, home decor, and design. Pantone, the leader in selecting and building color trends, recently released their color choices for 2013 and some of the classic colors are sticking around, while others are making their first appearance!
The newly released Spring colors offer a sort of preppy feeling with the addition of a navy (Monaco Blue) and red (Poppy Red), their names even further make that suggestion. However, the collection also has its feminine side with the addition of a pale pink (Linen) and purple (African Violet). There are also colors that are going to be show stoppers and be that pop of color, they include a bright and beautiful yellow (Lemon Zest) and an almost neon green (Tender Shoots), of which we have seen in a variety of shades over previous years. The colors that stand out to us are the subtle peach (Nectarine) and mint (Grayed Jade) as they offer a bit of a retro vibe when pair up with the preppy classics.
Many of these Spring colors also make an appearance in the Fall collection as well or and some even appear a few shades darker.
One notable color that appears in both the Spring and Fall collection is Emerald Green. Pantone also selected this color as the 2013 color of the year, so expect it to hit runways this Spring and stay around for awhile.
One of the many things that Pantone does right when carefully choosing their collections is the naming process that goes along with each color. The descriptive name is just that… a perfect description of the color. Without even seeing the actual color, anyone can get a good feel for what the color will look like based upon the given name. Are favorite name is Samba and is the featured red in the Fall collection. I imagine a night of festivities and salsa dancers, it’s a party waiting to happen!
Furthermore, we love the new collection and couldn’t be more pleased as there are endless color combinations that are sure to leave a mark in color history. Again we give Pantone a round of applause and cannot wait to start incorporating each color into our work, home and life. So the question is… which color is your favorite?
